THE ARMY RESERVE MEDICAL CORPS OFFERS A VARIETY OF WAYS YOU CAN SERVE.

Assignments in the Army Reserve are flexible and part-time.

Troop Program Unit (TPU)
As a part of a TPU, you’ll be assigned to a Reserve unit and serve only one weekend per month and two weeks per year.

Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA)
As a part of the IMA, you’ll fill a specific position at a specific location once a year for 14 to 30 days.

AMEDD Professional Management Command (APMC)
As a part of the APMC, you’ll serve with an assigned unit. You may fulfill your obligation by serving any two days of each month at any Department of Defense facility, including VA hospitals. APMC physicians also serve two weeks with a U.S. Army Reserve medical unit once every other year.

Individual Ready Reserve (IRR)
As a part of the IRR, there is no set obligation to fulfill, but you are eligible to be deployed at any time. You will not be eligible to accrue time toward retirement and no incentives are offered for joining. However, you can obtain an Army Reserve ID card that will give you access to various programs and base facilities such as the Post Exchange, fitness and recreational facilities, some commercial discounts, options for medical and dental insurance, and more.
