NEWLY COMMISSIONED CAPTAIN IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE MEDICAL CORPS: JEFF BURWELL, CAPT., MC
“I was asked why as a physician did I join the Army Reserve. For me the answer is simple. It is the right thing to do. I live in a country that has given me the freedom to achieve what I have. I realize that my ability to enjoy time with family, friends, and my profession has come at a terrible cost to many people I will never know. Now I have the privilege in a small way to pay back what has been given to me.”

NEWLY COMMISSIONED MAJOR IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE MEDICAL CORPS: LOREN SIMPSON, MAJ, MC, M.D., FAMILY PRACTICE
“Our soldiers and veterans deserve the best health care that can be offered. By joining the U.S. Army Medical Reserve team it is my hope that I can contribute to the outstanding health care that is available to our military and their families. It was with a sense of unfulfilled duty and obligation to my countrymen that I chose a career in the Army Reserve. It is a great honor to be allowed to work with members of our military — and the least of what I can do for them.”
