DEPLOYMENT
You may never be deployed as an AMEDD Officer, but if you are, deployment can potentially last up to 120 days, with 90 days BOG (boots on ground). Two weeks prior to deployment, you’ll participate in training and information sessions. If you are deployed, you may travel overseas. The maximum frequency for deployment is once every 12 to 18 months. Upon your return, you’ll participate in a de-briefing process.

MOBILIZATION
During mobilization, you’ll most likely serve as backfill for physicians who have been deployed overseas. Mobilization lasts 120 days and takes place in the United States. Although you may be able to serve in your home state, you’ll be expected to serve in other states depending on the need of the mission.
