THERE ARE A VARIETY OF AVAILABLE RESOURCES THAT WILL HELP YOU BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER YOUR FAMILY MEMBER SERVES AWAY FROM HOME.
These resources will give you the information you need to be completely prepared for your family member’s mission. You’ll learn what to expect with deployment and mobilization, how to handle being apart, and what you can do to show your support.
- Army Reserve Family Programs Online (www.arfp.org) provides a wealth of information to families of those in the uniformed services. On this site, you can find out all you need to know about mobilization and deployment, what to expect when they return, what benefits are available to you, and much more.
- Another web site, www.myarmylifetoo.com, is dedicated to providing support and services to families whose loved ones are away from home for a particular mission. The intent of this site is to ensure families know what to expect while their family members serve away from home and how to maintain stability during these times.
- Within this site is a section regarding Army Family Team Building (www.aftb.org). This section provides training and knowledge to families to support the overall Army effort. The stronger the family support, the stronger your family member will be as he/she serves. The intent of this site is to “train all of the Army in knowledge, skills, and behaviors designed to prepare our Army families to move successfully in the future.”
- Military OneSource (www.militaryonesource.com) is a supplement to existing family programs that will help those who serve and their families before, during, and after a particular mission. As a family member, you’ll have access to a worldwide information and referral telephone service at 1-800-342-9647. By calling this number, you’ll be able to talk to someone who can provide counseling, answer many of the questions you may have, and more. This service is available 24/7.
- Army Family Readiness Group (www.armyfrg.org) is your direct connection to Command information for your unit. On this site, you can locate the Army Family Readiness Group (AFRG) coordinator nearest you. This person will provide assistance with problems you may encounter and information you may need while your loved one is deployed or mobilized.
