“IF SOMEONE IS INTERESTED IN THE ARMY RESERVE MEDICAL CORPS, THEN DO NOT STAND IN THEIR WAY. IT’S SO GRATIFYING FOR THEM SO IT IS GRATIFYING FOR YOU.” — Joy Horvath, wife of LTC, Edward P. Horvath, Army Reserve M.D., Internal Medicine and Chief of Professional Services at the 256 Combat Support Hospital in Cleveland.

Protecting those who protect our country is something your family member has a strong desire to do. While your family member serves in the Army Reserve Medical Corps, he or she will need the comfort of having your help and support. Not only are you taking care of the home front while your family member is mobilized or deployed, you’re also making a sacrifice for your country and Soldiers that need our help.

Providing top-notch medical care to our Soldiers and their families is honorable. Your family member serves our country well by using his healing skills in this way. Our Soldiers need your family member’s expertise – sometimes to heal their bodies, but always to maintain their physical and mental strength so as to continue to serve our great nation.

As a Commissioned Officer, your family member will receive training that will give him the skills to inspire and encourage others. Your family member will become a manager, problem-solver, key influencer, and planner. The impact your family member will have on those in his care will be profound. That’s why we’re so selective of the Physicians we choose for the Army Reserve. They’re able to embrace and embody the Core Army Values and apply them to every decision they make and every action they take.

So, it’s clear that the importance of your family member’s service to the country is remarkable. Most people in this position feel this is something they have to do to repay those who have sacrificed so much for the well-being of our nation and its citizens. It is for these reasons that you, the family member, should do all you can to show your support of your loved one’s service. Support him and you’ll also be supporting America’s sons and daughters in uniform. We assure you the rewards for your family member’s service and the prestige he gains along the way will be lifelong and immeasurable.
